On Tuesday, October 26, 2021, the Town Board of the Town of Oswego held a public hearing on the proposed budget of 2022. The Town Board had reviewed and approved changes to the Tentative budget. This revised budget is now the Town’s Preliminary budget for 2022. This is the Budget on which the Town Board is expected to vote on at the November 9, 2021 Town Board meeting. The Preliminary Budget is available for review in the Town Hall. A copy is also available on the Town’s web site. This Budget reflects a projected .78% decrease to the Town’s tax rate.
During the COVID pandemic and shut down, the Town of Oswego has noticed increased use of our small Town Park. We have also received many comments about the lack of places to take young children so they can enjoy the outdoors while maintaining social distancing. The Town Board is examining the use of funds received through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to improve our facilities. Here are some pictures the Board is considering installing. More information is available at the Town Hall. We would like public comment regarding this project and invite people to vote as to which option is most desirable. The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with general information about the proposed culvert replacement project on County Route 89 in the Town of Oswego. This meeting is being hosted by the Town of Oswego as part of their monthly Town Board meeting, and is open to the public. The format of the presentation will be a PowerPoint presentation.
This project is part of the Governor’s Lake Ontario REDI (Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative) to help minimize the effects of Lake Ontario’s seasonal high water events. The project is sponsored by the Oswego County Highway Department, who is the owner of the project.
In addition to inviting local residents and businesses to attend; please share this meeting appointment, at your discretion, with appropriate stakeholders such as local emergency services, and local school districts covering this area.

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Health Department and SUNY Oswego have joined forces to offer another COVID-19 vaccination clinic. It will run from 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 25 at Laker Hall on the SUNY Oswego campus.
This clinic provides first dose appointments for the Moderna vaccine which requires two doses. Appointments for the second dose will be made when patients receive their first vaccine. Patients must be able to return to the same location for the second dose on Thursday, April 22.
Appointments are required for all COVID-19 vaccination clinics and can be made online at https://health.oswegocounty.com/ by clicking on the link for “Local Information About the COVID-19 Vaccination.”
A vaccination hotline is also available to help people make appointments by phone. It will be open from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. today, March 23. For assistance, call 315-349-3383.
The clinic is open to eligible residents who fall into the 1A or 1B public-facing essential worker group, have underlying health conditions or are age 50 or over. Anyone with a comorbidity or underlying condition must provide a note of eligibility from their healthcare provider as proof of their condition. Replacement of Thompson Road Bridge over Rice Creek

The Town of Oswego is pleased to announce that the replacement of the Thompson Road Bridge over Rice Creek has been successfully completed. A little over two years ago, following an inspection by the NYS Department of Transportation, the Town was notified that the bridge was “Red Flagged” and marked as needing repairs. Attempts to have the bridge remain open under limited traffic were unsuccessful as the bridge was deemed unsafe for travel. The Oswego Town Board took this matter very seriously and immediately began the long and arduous process of seeking repair or replacement. While investigating available options, the Town also made several attempts to secure outside funding for the project. The Town reviewed three alternative designs from BCA Engineering, opting for the most cost-effective long-term design. To many, this has been a long and drawn out project and quite the inconvenience to many. However, there were major hurdles that had to be met, not limited to the securing of needed permits, engineering approvals and other regulatory issues. In all, the project was completed under budget and without major increases in the Town’s tax rate in what many officials indicate was near record time for such a large and complicated project.
This project could not have been so successfully completed if not for the team work exhibited by all involved. The Town Board of Oswego was diligent and showed commitment to seeing the project through. BCA Architects & Engineers of Watertown provided excellent design and engineering work. Their efforts, insured that the bridge was an improvement over previous conditions and was completed within projected time frames and budget. The State University of New York at Oswego, especially Auxiliary Services, helped with right of way easements and other related issues. Slate Hill Constructors, Inc. of Warners, New York was awarded the construction contract in August 2020 after a competitive bid process. Besides being easy to work with and very cooperative and communitive in the process, they were able to handle some minor changes and adjustments encountered along the way. It is mainly due to their expertise, workmanship and dedication that the project was completed on time and within budget.
Finally, a special thank you to the residents of the Town of Oswego for their patience with the Town and for trusting in the Town Board to deliver as requested. The Town Board works for the of the people of the Town and sincerely appreciates the faith given by our community.

Please take notice that the annual election of the Oswego Town Fire District will take place on Tuesday December 8, 2020 between the hours of 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM at the Oswego Town Fire Station located on Co. Rte 20 Southwest Oswego for the purpose of electing one commissioner for a 5-year term commencing on January 1, 2021.
All duly registered voters of the Town of Oswego shall be eligible to vote. Candidates for district office shall file their names with the secretary of the Oswego Town Fire District at 640 Co. Rte. 20, Oswego, New York 13126 no later than November 21, 2020.
